A Bit About Me

About Susanne

 

After completing high school, college, and a traditional office apprenticeship in Germany, I embarked on my journey as an explorer. My first adventure took me to Turkey, where I worked at a holiday resort called Hillside Beach Club, joining the kids club and entertainment team. This was the beginning of a lifelong passion for travel, hospitality, and exploring new cultures.

 

Since then, I’ve lived in many parts of the world, including four years in Southeast Asia. During my time there, I was introduced to sailing and superyachts, gaining my first insights into the world of luxury resorts and exclusive estates. As a personal assistant, I had the opportunity to work at the prestigious Amanpuri Resort, which further fueled my fascination with high-end hospitality.

 

My career in yachting began at 30, not as a chef but as a stewardess, taking on roles across departments and eventually discovering my love for cooking. Determined to pursue this path, I took every opportunity to learn, working in restaurants, attending culinary courses, and cooking for crew during the winter months. Over time, I built my skills and confidence, growing into my role as a private chef.

 

Now, with over 15 years of experience, I have honed my craft across superyachts, restaurants, and private households. My love for food and travel inspires me to create menus that draw on diverse cultural influences and culinary techniques. I’m equally thrilled by the artistry of high-end dining and the authenticity of street food — I believe real food comes from the heart and connects us to the world.

 

Working as a private chef allows me to combine my passions, delivering nutritious, balanced, and delicious meals to my clients while exploring new destinations. Soon, I’ll be sharing more of my experiences and recipes on my blog, where I hope to inspire others with my journey and culinary creations.

In late 2017, I returned to Germany to establish a home base and launch my private chef services business.

 

Throughout 2018, I traveled extensively across Europe, participating in a variety of culinary courses to keep my skills sharp and stay current with industry trends. Since early 2019, I’ve worked on yachts ranging from 30 to 87 meters, both sailing and motor, serving on private and charter vessels.

 

In early 2023, I transitioned to the private sector, working shore-based in UHNW households, luxury retreats, and treatment centers.
